Facial reflexology works on the same principle as foot reflexology, providing the same level of deep relaxation, healing and restoration. It also has the unique additional benefits of releasing tension and negative emotions which are held in the face, relaxing the facial muscles and giving your complexion a radiant glow.
Each treatment reduces stress and stimulates the body's own healing processes by very gently applying pressure to specific reflex points, muscles, skin and fascia on the face. As well as supporting your whole body, facial reflexology can help with specific issues which directly relate to the face, including jaw tension, teeth grinding, headaches, migraines, sinusitis, and conditions such as Bell's palsy.
Facial reflexology is also establishing itself as a natural alternative to treatments such as botox. It's a non-invasive treatment that encourages healthy blood flow and lymphatic drainage, encouraging the elimination of toxins and helping to reduce puffiness. Each treatment also naturally stimulates collagen and elastin production which means that after just one session your face can look softer, less stressed and more radiant. Over a series of treatments, facial reflexology may help to tighten, plump and sculpt your skin and neck line, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
At the start of each treatment I massage your face with a natural, organic cleanser, and clean your skin with warm, organic cotton wipes. I then apply a natural, organic facial oil which is hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive skin, and contains antioxidants which are nourishing and revitalising for the skin. For the main part of the treatment I apply gentle pressure on different reflex points on the face, and use massage and natural lifting techniques too. The overall experience is super relaxing and provides a deep sense of inner lightness and calm.
I trained in the Bergman Method of Advanced Facial Reflexology with Ziggie Bergman, who developed the treatment by drawing on a combination of native American techniques and traditional Chinese medicine. Ziggie is a pioneer in modern facial reflexology, and is the winner of the Association of Reflexologists' Award for Excellence and Innovation in Modern Facial Reflexology. The Bergman Method has had some fantastic press:
