Reflexology is an ancient treatment that is perfect for 21st century living. It is a safe, natural, complementary therapy that you can add to your personal self-care toolkit, alongside things like conventional medicine, lifestyle, nutrition, sleep and moving your body. My reflexology therapies give you time to hit the pause button, rest and relax. Each treatment helps to reduce stress, recharges your batteries, and provides a gentle reset for your body and mind.
I'm a full Member of the Association of Reflexologists which means that I am highly qualified, fully insured and will create a soothing and safe environment for your wellness journey.
Benefits of reflexology
There are many recognised benefits of reflexology, including it's ability to: reduce stress; improve sleep; soothe the nerves; release feel-good, pain-relieving endorphins; improve the circulation; promote the elimination of toxins, and; boost your sense of wellbeing and vitality. My reflexology therapies work in three key ways:
Reflex points: I apply systematic pressure, stimulation and soothing techniques to specific reflex points on your feet and face. These reflex points correspond to the major organs, glands and areas of your body via the nervous system and energy channels (a little like acupuncture). When we get out of balance – due to stress, lifestyle or illness – the resulting imbalances in our body can be detected in these reflex points. As I work to release and unblock these reflex points, the corresponding areas of your body are rebalanced.
Rest: Reflexology provides deep, active rest and triggers the parasympathetic nervous system which calms our stress response. In this deeply rested state your body and mind is brought into ‘homeostasis’, an inner balance that is essential for all the systems of the body to function properly. In addition, when we are less stressed and more rested, there is an improvement in our body's natural ability to heal and repair.
Connection: Reflexology provides all the powerful emotional benefits that we know human touch brings us – a sense of security, safety, reassurance, bonding and comfort. Physical touch also has many mental health benefits, such as reducing feelings of anxiety, depression and loneliness. Human touch has many physical health benefits too, including improving our immune function, reducing blood pressure and relieving pain. And you know what, a reflexology treatment just feels really good, and feeling good makes us happier and healthier!
